How are dental implants functional?

Dental implants often need a number of steps, including:

  • Consultation: Your dentist will evaluate your mouth during a consultation to determine whether dental implants are the best treatment option for you. To prepare for the implantation of the implants, they will take imprints and x-rays.

  • Surgery: Local anaesthetic or IV sedation are used for the surgical installation of the implants. The implant will be inserted after the dentist makes a gum incision to expose the jawbone.

  • Healing: The implant and the surrounding tissue must recover for several months following surgery. During this period, the bone will develop around the implant and solidify its connection.

A little post called an abutment is attached to the implant by the dentist once the implant has completely bonded with the jawbone.

The porcelain crown must now be set on top of the abutment as the last stage. The crown will be fashioned to meet your bite and color-matched to the adjacent teeth.
